My life through my eyes

Life seems to be moving in a fast-paced lane. Years have flashed by like seconds but nostalgia remains buried in my memories.

It took just one visit to my high school and the old memories came sprawling back, as if it was just yesterday! The vacant school benches spacious enough for only 2 but a bunch somehow clinging on to the minutest of available space ; the little classroom cupboard actually meant to house important docs but strewn with scratchy papers; the dusty blackboard where the formulas were rubbed off just after the teacher exits ,to make space for creative comments ; the notice board which once glittered with handicrafts ,chart-papers and posters the student-artists made; the teachers desk from where a constant vigil was kept……everything seems to have lightened up.

A stroll to the basket-court and the visuals of me running from one half to another desperately trying to make a pass to team-mates, the canteen still smelling same as before ,the feared morning assembly stage and our audi…and those long ,difficult to bear speeches !I have not forgotten a single thing!

But I owe my beautiful moments to 4 of my best friends- nicknamed Budau(meaning an old man:he was a tall, lanky fellow, quite handsome but as lethargic as a grand-old-man),Lala(meaning:shopkeeper of a retail store, named coz of his shrewdness),Gorrilla and Psycho(his unpredictable behavior being the reason !)

Memory never dies…We may have come a long way in our life and friends do get separated, but the bitter-sweet golden memories of our freakish school days ,would stay forever. No fat salaries ,no designation ,no fame,no corporate achievement can equal the happiness of those days. Not a single moment can be relived ,no matter how much laurels we achieve in professional fields. Can money buy me the same joy I got bunking lectures and hiding in the playground behind those kinder-garden swings…..the same joy when we used to scribble on our desk amidst boring lectures, the same joy of playing pen-fighting and truth –dare…..simply uncomparable to any monetary gain !

I might not be having fancy gadgets, ipods, mobiles, laptops then ,but the very joy of playing with paper-balls felt so nice.Happiness is a thing to be realized ! plainly felt !
I still remember those days when we used to bunk(within school premises only) in pairs and recollecting those moments ,everything now seems futile.
The incident of me and Budau bunking around in nursery ward and when a faculty shouted before us to stop! -the funny trick of me faking an illness and explanation of visiting the medical room ! An ill chap running helter-skelter ?? –was what she asked and I remember us having no answers. The tragic incident of me and Lala finally getting caught bunking(the only time I was caught) and the slap we both received! (yes we were slapped even in grade 12 !) , the duo of Budau and Gorilla being questioned what they were doing in playground during class hours and the reply they gave- ‘searching for dropped spectacles!.....’ ,the act of me and Lala urging Budau to buy a canteen patties and when he did, snatching it from his hands and running to glory( as if we’have won a million dollars !),the witty unpredictable psycho’s psycho-like gestures ….and gorilla’s skills of making a mockery of all serious issues…PRICELESS WERE THOSE MOMENTS AND PRICELESS THEY'LL REMAIN !

But our friendship has bore the brunt of time and educational, career
commitments have parted us-so much so that I don’t even remember when all 5 of us met last…And I must admit honestly –peer competiton, future insecurity ,attitude and other devils have bittered the once joyful unison-and I have played my part too in this..
I haven’t made any dedicated efforts to reach out to them !

And to a reader ,reaching up to this far….. thanks for lending a ear to my voice. And coming friendship day,I’m gonna show this post to my buddies. And I urge u too-to shed all inhibitions ,make the initiative and reach out to your long-forgotten friends.

Hats off, to those reading this last line of a long-maybe dull, boring and insipid ..essay sort of thing and yet bearing upto the end!!
I have just written a chapter from my life .If you can relate to this, share ur story and shoot me the link.I will be glad to see, ur life through ur eyes!!
This was all about,my life through my eyes.

A real heart warming read, the honesty with which it is written, the emotions are shining through..

Friends are indeed a treasure, often taken for granted. We get separated wandering through the lanes of fast paced life, but what remains with us always are those moments of joys and sorrows that we have shared with them. A nostalgic post, I do hope you find your friends soon...

This was a nice heart-touching post. I can relate this. When I used to be in school then I used to hate morning assemblies, extra classes, friends snatching away my lunch box, copying my notes n all. But it was all that I cherish whenever I take a moment to walk into the past school days. I now feel my heaven was there in benches and classrooms, canteens and playground. Those were the sweet n salty days. those memories are saved in my heart. Loved this post. I wish you could meet your 4 friends soon and share your reunion experience here. God bless. :)

It's amazing how a place, song or even an aroma can transport us back in time ... This post is definitely something that all of us can relate to, especially after graduating from high school! :)

A couple of years ago I was re-united with old high school friends and classmates on Facebook. It was surreal, as if no time had passed even though we were all much older! :)

Lovely read ~ not dull or boring, Rohit! :D

If I may make a small suggestion? I'm not very good at this but you are young and eager to improve (most likely?) so here goes :)

You may not be aware that you are doing this because it has become natural to you when texting to your friends, etc. The reason why I never use 'u' or 'ur' as shortcuts (even when texting) is because I don't want my brain to start replacing those words with these shortcuts, when I'm composing an email or blogger post :) In my opinion, it detracts from the overall presentation. The content of your writing is more than worthy of being presented in a professional manner :) I'm actually giving you a big compliment :)

wonderful post buddy... it just made me think of my college days...

most of my college mates were 4m Andhra... we all used to have pet names like bugs bunny, mahalakshmi, devil, curdrice, mini canteen (these were mine), drumstick, kutty pesasu, gundu, mondhu,.. list goes on... writing in the benches was a funny thing.. even we will scribble something in our hands & show each other...

i 2 miss my friends a lot... felt very sad.. now am unable to talk 2 them due to my son & family responsibility... but truth is, they remain in my thoughts always...

thanks 4 letting me share dis buddy...
